Michael Sobell Sinai School

Michael Sobell Sinai School (MSSS) is a co-educational voluntary-aided school based in Kenton, Middlesex. The school is three-form entry, admitting 90 children into Reception each year and 60 children into Nursery. It opened in 1981 and is the largest Jewish primary school in Europe.

The school follows the National Curriculum and teaches a love of and commitment to Orthodox Judaism and Israel. The MSSS promotes modern orthodox beliefs and practices. Hebrew and Jewish studies underpin the whole educational character of the school. Jewish Studies is taught both as an independent subject and integrated into day-to-day lessons.

The Jewish Studies curriculum aims to make children proud of their Judaism, with the necessary skills and knowledge to play a full part in the Jewish community. The school aims to create in every child the desire to continue with their Jewish studies throughout their secondary education and on into adulthood.

The school's extra-curricular activities include: dance clubs, art, drama, chess, computer, individual musical tuition, and the Sinai choir. There are numerous additional physical activities on offer for the entire school including football, netball, athletics, yoga, movement and karate. Themed days, workshops, school trips, visits from speakers and theatre groups, and cross curricular activities enhance the varied and exciting learning environment for all the children.

In its last Ofsted inspection in 2007 inspectors said: “Its strong ethos contributes well to pupils' learning and understanding as well as to their well-being. Pupils are well looked after by the school and, as a result, are happy, secure and at ease with themselves.”
